We were thrilled to welcome our Patron, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Diane Hawkins JP LLB, to The Nicky today.
The Lord-Lieutenant enjoyed lunch with our members and took the time to chat with a few of them to learn what they love about The Nicky.
Thelma shared that The Nicky "is a family," while Joyce proudly declared it her "second home." Joe spoke about how he enjoys coming for "the company and the food," a sentiment echoed by the Lord-Lieutenant, who remarked, "the food is excellent."
Together with David Delew (Chief Executive) and Karen Grant (Centre Manager), the three members discussed with Diane the various initiatives being planned to raise awareness of The Nicky, along with new exciting day trips being organised for members.
Diane also shared some ideas for new activities, which were enthusiastically received by everyone.
Later, Diane gave a talk in the lounge about "A Day in the Life of the Lord-Lieutenant," and gave an insight into her role during a recent visit by the Duchess of Edinburgh to Manchester.
